Introduction

 

In accordance with the National Policy of Education (1986), Government of India started Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) all over the country except Tamil Nadu. These Vidyalayas are co-educational, residential in nature which are fully financed by the Government of India and run by an autonomous organization, " Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti" under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. JNV was started in village Jaswantpura district Jalore(Rajasthan)  in 1987, Initially at  temporary site and later on shifted in its own building in 1990.

About Jaswantpura :

Jaswantpura is a town (population ~5000) in the Jalore District of Rajasthan, India. It holds the headquarters of panchayat samiti (block) of the same name and is part of the Bhinmal sub division. It is named after the ruler of Marwar (Jodhpur ) Maharaja Jaswant Singh. Prior to 1947, it was the headquarters of the district by the same name.

The old name of Jaswantpura was Loyana. Then sardars of Loyana rebelled against then Maharaja Jaswant Singh of Jodhpur. Maharaja quelled the rebellion, after two times attempt, third time conquered Loyana and changed its name to Jaswantpura. Mahrana Partap styed here during his struggle period and by being happy with their services he gave them the name of 'Mini Rana' to Loyana's Sardars. Mini Rana has been given education in Jodhpur by Maharaja Jaswant Singh than Maharaja gave a village in Pali district name Sinla. The nearest sardars of loyana families is in Gajapura about 2 km from Jaswantpura. Jaswantpura is well known in Jalore district for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and production of tomato.

 

While education in these Vidyalayas is free with the board, lodging, uniforms and textbooks up to Class-VIII, a nominal fee of Rs.200/- per month is collected from the children from IX to XII Class.  However, children belonging to SC/ST, Girls and those from the families of below poverty line, are exempted from payment of fees.

How to reach

This Vidyalaya is situated in the village Jaswantpura which is 80 km far from District Headquarter. SDM headquarter is Bhinmal which is about 37 km far from here. Sirohi is 60 km from this Vidyalaya.

AbuRoad Distt Sirohi(Raj.) is nearest railway station which is 75 km far from Vidyalaya. Trains are available from Jaipur, Jodhpur, Delhi, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Bombay.

Buses are available for Aburoad, Surat and Ahmedabad from Jaswantpura. For other cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur, Delhi, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bombay etc can be availed from Jalore, Aburoad or Sirohi.
